Due to the successful result in our strategy of shrinkage reduction, we have
decided to expand this division. We have recently opened a branch in Cape Town
to concentrate on this area of our business.
Mission Statement
To provide a service, that is unsurpassed in quality and value for money, for the Retail Industry.
Vision
To be the preferred Provider of Loss Prevention Services in the Retail Industry.
Background to the Business
The commercial division was established in 2007, to service a specific market
within the Security Industry as a division of Proforce Security which has been
successfully operating for 18 years.
The Management of the company is involved with all clients on a day to day basis. They assist the business owners wherever they can and strive to continually improve on the services and systems they offer. Reports are produced on a weekly basis which identify the problem areas and discuss what action needs to be taken to rectify these problems. This market is the Retail Industry and more specifically, Loss Prevention and the control of shrinkage.
The systems and processes that are used on a daily basis have been designed and implemented to specifically assist business owners with shrinkage control, including general theft.
Management
The Operations Manager of commercial has been in the Security Industry for 18
years. He also spent 5 years in Retail, owning a Supermarket. He uses his
knowledge and experience gained in both industries to provide a service to
business owners that is tailor made for them.
He is assisted by two highly knowledgeable Managers who have also spent numerous years in the Security and Retail Industries.
Each business's controls are assessed and then recommendations are made to the owners as to how they can be improved upon. Once agreed, these controls are then implemented and managed by the security staff in the store, on a daily basis.
We do not only concentrate on shrinkage, but on loss prevention as a whole for its clients.
Contract Terms
We work on the basis that the first three months are seen as a probation period.
At the end of the three months, the service levels are assessed, and if the
business owner wishes to continue with our services, then a 12 month contract will be negotiated.

Daily Hazard Counts
Hazard counts on “hot stock items” are done on a daily basis. The result is then compared to the theoretical stock figure on the computer system and monitored on a weekly basis;
Shrinkage Control
Almost 80% of shrinkage is a direct result of internal losses. Checks are done four times per day to ensure the integrity of the procedures to reduce and manage shrinkage;
General Security
Shoplifting accounts for the other 20% of the shrinkage figure. Any person/s caught shoplifting are arrested and handed over to the SAPS, without exception;
Returns, Damaged & Expired Stock
This is monitored on a weekly basis to ensure that the goods are returned to the supplier and do not become a shrinkage statistic. This includes all loose stock in the back up cold rooms. The sealed, written up returns are checked on, to ensure the seal is not broken before the supplier uplifts the stock;
Staff Purchasing
Systems are discussed and agreed with the owner and then controlled to ensure
all purchases are paid for;
Interdepartmental Transfers
These transfers are controlled through existing procedures. Recommendations are made to ensure all paperwork is correct thereby not affecting gross profit results in each department;
Small Liquor Outlets
Numerous Supermarket owners, also own a Liquor Outlet in the same Shopping Centre. The services offered extend to the Liquor Outlet in terms of daily hazard counts and cigarette stock takes. The same shrinkage tests are carried out 4 (four) times a day.
Polygraph Testing on Staff
We have a division within the group, that does Polygraph testing. These tests are essential on key staff, such as: cash office, receiving and managers. These tests can also be used for pre-employment verification. If an incident occurs, all employees in that particular department should undergo testing.
Daily Cigarette Stock Counts
All stores cigarette kiosks (where applicable) are counted every morning before
trading starts. This count is given through to the owner for him to have extended so that gross profits and theft are managed on a daily basis.
Receiving
Goods received vouchers are checked against actual invoice values to ensure no alterations are made, especially on deliveries that are COD;
